This Sunday was extra special, not only for us at AKL but for the 51,000 people who participated in the Race for the Cure, an event organized by the Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer, Alma Zois.
Founded in 1988 by breast cancer survivors, Alma Zois aims to provide emotional support to newly diagnosed women, helping them navigate their illness and improve their quality of life. The Board of Directors consists of seven breast cancer survivors, with each member having personally faced the disease.
The association’s mission is to ensure that every woman in Greece has access to information on breast cancer prevention and early detection. They also offer psychosocial support for those battling the disease and provide guidance on labor rights and social benefits.
We at AKL were proud to support this cause by participating in the 5K run and 2K walk, raising awareness about breast cancer prevention.
