A short commentary by AKL Associate, Ariti Tsoukala, on 3 recent CJEU judgments on environmental and energy law is featured in the latest issue of “Environment and Law” magazine (Nomiki Vivliothiki Eds.) and we couldn’t be prouder!
In C-5/22, Green Network, the Court ruled on the competences of the national energy regulator, whereas in its lengthy judgment in cases C-702/20 and C-17/21, DOBELES HES, the Court examined a wide range of legal issues relating to state aid in the field of renewable energy production.
Lastly, in case C-721/21, Eco Advocacy, it addressed the question of whether the inherent characteristics of a project subject to prior authorisation must be taken into account during the screening of the need for an environmental impact assessment.
These judgments truly reflect the EU's commitment to transparency, legality, and sustainability in energy practices.
