Administrative Law
The firm’s administrative law capabilities have proven to be extremely valuable to clients dealing with government rulemaking or judicial review of actions of the executive branch. We work with clients (including groupings of aligned interests) to develop the fundamental strategy, advocate arguments and assist with resolution of administrative law disputes. We regularly represent clients in formal and informal hearings or enforcement actions before administrative authorities, commissions, and in court. Our deep familiarity with the administrative law process, and the capabilities of our litigation department, are highly effective in these situations. Resources contributed to various firm practice groups can be applied when and where needed to resolve our clients’ matters.
EU and Competition Law
Our team advises on all aspects of EU and Competition law and procedures. We are experienced in handling the full range of competition matters, from implementing bespoke compliance strategy and addressing day-to-day compliance issues, through to handling dawn raids and acting on investigations by the competition authorities.
Our services include day-to-day compliance, state aid, merger control, behavioural competition matters (abuse of dominance, cartels and other restrictive agreements), application of EU and competition law to commercial practices and agreements and public authorities’ investigations.
Combining our sector expertise with our in-depth understanding of our clients' priorities and needs, enables us to handle complex competition law matters that require deep technical knowledge and provide sound commercially orientated advice in a manner that is practical and relevant to our clients’ business.
Government Policy
Change and risk management in the public sector requires a skill set involving more than just legal knowledge. Process and regulatory requirements, public sensitivities and constraints deriving from policy mandates must all be understood and factored into the equation. Meaningful risk strategies and effective legal tactics also rely on the ability to understand the dynamics and interests of stakeholders and key players. Alexiou Kosmopoulos has been known to function as an effective and astute advocate when representing clients’ interests before decision-makers and ruling authorities.
Procurement and Government Contracts
The firm has a solid track record in a variety of representations, acting for awarding authorities and private sector operators, as part of the general procurement framework and public contracts and concessions in specific and special sectors.
We advise clients at every level and in every stage of procedures, as well as in transactions, negotiations or restructurings.
The practice consolidates expertise in tender structuring, drafting tender documents and preparation of bid submission packages, teaming arrangements and consortium assemblage, evaluation and award, as well as compliance, bid protest, and contentious issues before courts of all levels, procurement chambers and public authorities.
The team benefits from longstanding experience in government contracts and their dynamics, as well as profound industry and market knowledge.
Regulatory Compliance
Growing pressure from regulators and evolution of regulatory and oversight regimes have a growing impact on the way corporations operate. The cost and consequences of non-compliance can only be mitigated by timely awareness and thoroughly worked-out strategies.
Alexiou - Kosmopoulos helps multinational and domestic clients understand their responsibilities from a current and fully informed perspective, formulate procedures and policies aimed at addressing relevant requirements, and contain the risk of their day-to-day operations or transactions being disrupted by regulatory concerns.
In addition to counselling, the firm also supports contentious situations, including hearings before administrative authorities and courts.
Areas and industries on which the firm has been active include Banking and Financial Services Regulatory, Data Protection & Privacy, Consumer Protection (including Consumer Finance), Telecommunications and Technology, Public Procurement, Product Safety, Labelling and Product Liability, and other EU regulatory matters.
